Problem
There was a growing need in Impact to build our own survey tool. Ways of gathering feedback and data were historically dated with poor engagement. MS forms and Survey monkey were not adequate solutions for our client’s needs. Our own tool would allow us to unify our platforms and allow us to own our own data and feedback.
Challenge
Several interfaces would be needed. One to build the survey. One to display it for our users and clients, both desktop and mobile. It also had to be able to use our client’s branding. It had to be able to stand alone.
Solution
Nitro was built as two main interfaces. Surveys were created in an editor which could be previewed and shared. The same editor was then used to create a presentation from the survey results. Stage one focused on the desktop. We used Matter.js (after the success of using it for Inscape Rooms) a 2d physics engine for the web to create dynamic animated question types. A primary goal for the tool.
1. User flow. List of question types/graphs
2. User stories for the front and backend interfaces
3. Wireframes for front and backend
4. Concepts for mobile and desktop
5. Final designs, build and testing
Results
The editor is now used for all our face-to-face and digital products. Clients can also use it as a standalone piece of software. Early days, but a quote from one of our clients has us feeling positive. XXXX – “I’ve never seen a survey I actually wanted to fill out before”
