I enjoy doing private freelance projects of all sizes. It allows me to continue to explore my creativity that working for larger companies doesn’t always allow.
Problem
The Brixton Art Prize was held for the first time in 2022. Set up by a collective of local creatives the prize aims to push diversity in modern art in Brixton. I was asked to create some of their visual language for social media aswell as posters and flyers for the prize. The brief was to be bold/striking and to utilize the photography of Adrian Flower one of the founders of the prize.
Solution
The event was to be held at The Department Store a fabulous space recently re-imagined by architects Squire and Partners. It is a series of collaborative workspaces supported by an evolving hub of creative, retail and community uses. A geometric logo had already been created, but it wasn’t being applied consistently and at times sat awkwardly in communications. I decided to use it at different scales and angles to create more interest. I blurred and played around with the photography to create a series of images. I combined this with bold neon colours for maximum impact on printed material and social media posts.
