Problem
Design and build a comprehensive web application for a leadership development company. The platform needed to support multiple key features, including a real-time chat system, notifications, private cloud storage, and a coaching call scheduler.
Challenge
The project had to be delivered within a tight 12-month deadline to meet the expectations of a major blue-chip client. The initial team consisted of just three people: myself as the UI/UX designer, a lead developer, and a project manager.
Solution
We adopted the Agile Scrum methodology to manage the project efficiently. Each sprint lasted a maximum of four weeks and included sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. We used Trello to organize our workflow and track progress. User stories were developed and grouped into Epics, which then informed the sprint structure. Low-fidelity wireframes were created through both hand-drawn sketches and Figma. All high-fidelity wireframes, concepts, and final UI designs were produced in Figma..
Result
Our team became more efficient with each sprint, refining our collaboration and delivery pace. The web app launched on schedule and currently has over 7,000 registered users. Several processes established during this project have since been adopted company-wide to enhance overall workflow. It saved the company during the Covid 19 pandemic!
